New paper from the Abbott and Tobias labs on Native American botanical medicines for ataxia

Congratulations to Rian Manville for another first-author paper in Nature Communications! Our work, in conjunction with Valley Childrens' Hospital Pediatrician Rich Sidlow, and J. Alfredo Freites and Doug Tobias in UCI Dept of Chemistry, describes the molecular mechanism of action of Kwakwaka'wakw First Nations botanical ataxia therapies down to the atomic level, and shows that they can rescue inherited Episodic Ataxia 1-linked Kv1.1 channel function - the first reported examples of small molecules that can achieve this, to our knowledge..
