Abbott and Jepps labs identify mechanisms underlying Native American use of barks as medicines

September 2022 - in a paper published in FASEB Journal, we demonstrate that activation of the vascular KCNQ5 potassium channel by tannins in tree and shrub barks explains some medicinal properties discovered by Native Americans.
